Google said it has inked a deal to buy Mandiant, a cybersecurity company, for nearly US$5.4 billion. Perhaps best known for uncovering the infamous SolarWinds hack, Mandiant will be folded into Google Cloud as the tech giant looks to beef up its cybersecurity offerings amid increased cyber threats across industries. The company’s cloud unit “generates more than US$19 billion annually. If approved, the deal will mark Google’s second-largest acquisition ever.
