In the creative industry specifically, your network is your livelihood. Focusing on the competitive aspect of this industry is an easy stance to take. However, you may find that by supporting your fellow woman in her chosen art form, you can have a far more fulfilling career.

What I Wish I Knew When I Started My Business: BlissBombed.com

As a small business owner, you know the importance of a having a support system around you. Part of that support system is seeking advice from fellow solopreneurs. Today's advice comes from Stephanie St.Claire at BlissBombed.com. Her article, "11 Things I Wish I Knew When I started My Business", has so many pearls, we think you will love reading it! One of our favorites is the following:

NUMBER 4.RUNNING OUT OF MONEY IS A COMMON PART OF THE JOURNEY. You won’t expect it, because you prepared for the long haul. You secured a business loan, or got some investors, or sold your house (cough, cough), or have one year’s worth of savings and you have planned accordingly. But then all of the sudden, midst the puffy clouds and blue skies, your little twin engine Entreprenairplane will sputter, the needle on the gas gauge unexpectedly plummeting to zero, and you will have only one choice… land your plane on the wild, abandoned air strip called Bank Balance: Fourteen Dollars. And this will be the LAST PLACE you ever thought you’d crash land, because didn’t you pass this test on No More Sephora Island?

What I Wish I Knew When I Started My Business

Are you ready to take the plunge? Have you already and feeling overwhelmed and defeated? Perhaps you just need to commiserate, this article from Kenna @modernsoapmaking will help you with all these and more.  Our favorite advice? Don't compromise your value!

5. There is a market for everything. The biggest argument I get in regards to charging decent prices that net a profit is that the market can’t bear it. And that is a big ole fat lie. The only time the market won’t bear a price that is fair to you and your business is when you aren’t going after the right market or a specific market at all.If you are throwing your soap out in the wild, hoping and praying that some bloke will plunk down $10 for your soap, you are betting on a chance. You have to nail down a specific market that is right for your products. For most businesses, the opposite direction of flow is made: a niche market is identified and a product is created to serve that niche. For most soapmakers, however, they start off by throwing caution to the wind and hoping someone somewhere will buy their products because they are AMAZEBALLS.
