Canids (wolves,foxes and dogs) has been the earliest carnivores for several tens of thousands of years ago. The concept of raw feeding was originated from its natural ancestors. For modern times, the main goal for feeding the raw diet was to introduce all-natural foods for the pet or owner.
Studies have shown that feeding a raw food diet has many notable benefits such as improved digestion, healthier skin and coat, better energy level and better weight management. The popularity of the diets, which emphasize raw meat, bones, fruits, vegetables is rising. Although they may have notable benefits, disadvantages are also not to be mislooked. However, raw food enthusiast believe that dogs achieve a better state of overall health than their canned dried food. For you who has just walk into the world of raw food diet, don’t forget to take down some of these important steps.
- Monitor the dog poop. They tend to become smaller and firm, and as time goes by it may turn white as they dry up. But don’t ‘worry, it’s totally normal!
- Raw dog food should be fed twice daily. Divide your dog’s homemade food into two proportion, morning and evening. And puppies to be fed 3 to 4 times daily, that also depends on the size of your puppy.
- Afraid that bones might choked on your dog? Don’t worry, meaty bones can be given separately between its meals but remember to supervise them when they are eating.
