Identity theft is a very scary subject. If it does happen to you here are some simple things you can do.
- Act Quickly
- Place a fraud alert on your accounts through Equifax, Trans Union and Expertian this will last 90 days and then you should reactivate them all.
- File a report with local police department.
- File identity theft report using tools available on the Federal Trade Commission web site: www.consumer.ftc.gov
- Contact banks, credit card companies, and loan companies to place a fraud alert on all your accounts or close them all.
If your purse or wallet has been stolen someone can get your address from your ID-Change all your house locks.
