With three more wins under her belt, Swift didn’t just pass Houston’s American Music Awards tally; Swift is now just three wins away from beating Michael Jackson’s all-time record of 24 AMAs.

Presented by the World Federation of Mental Health, World Mental Health Day will be on October 10, 2018. The goal is to help raise mental health awareness. Each of us can make a contribution to ensure that people dealing with problems concerning mental health can live better lives with dignity.

The Dilemma

Every year one adult in four, along with one child in ten, will have a mental health issue. These conditions can profoundly affect literally millions of lives, affecting the capability of these individuals to make it through the day, to sustain relationships, and to maintain work.

The stigma attached to mental health causes a damaging, albeit ill-informed, attitude, making it more difficult for those affected to pursue help. According to UK estimates, only about one-fourth of those with mental health problems undergo ongoing treatment. By stark contrast, the vast majority of those affected with these problems are faced with a variety of issues, ranging from isolation to uncertainty on where to get help or information, to relying on the informal support of family, friends or colleagues.

Raising Awareness

The best way to deal with this stigma is through facts and a better understanding of mental health problems. From identifying the causes, pinpointing solutions, and ultimately recognizing that we are really dealing with medical issues. For your information, we have updated our Fundamental Facts Guide. Please review and help spread the news about World Mental Health Day 2018.

This week marks the 52nd anniversary of Star Trek.

This week marks the 52nd anniversary of Star Trek. And to celebrate the occasion of the franchise.

Join us in wishing a Happy Anniversary to the first StarTrek crew who encouraged and inspired us to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Star Trek is an American space opera media franchise based on the science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. The first television series, simply called Star Trek and now referred to as "The Original Series", debuted in 1966 and aired for three seasons on the television network NBC.

NBC canceled the show after three seasons; the last original episode aired on June 3, 1969.

Don't forget to join in the celebration! As part of the global celebration, honor 52 years of Star Trek the most logical way — with a "Live Long and Prosper" salute.

SOUND SUMMIT – Saturday, September 8, 2018

WELCOME TO SOUND SUMMIT

Saturday, September 8, 2018 ~ Doors: 10:00 AM ~ Music: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Held in an intimate venue set amidst an expansive landscape, Sound Summit is a musical gathering like no other in the Bay Area. The festival is staged at the historic Mountain Theater, a 4000-seat natural stone amphitheater with stunning views of San Francisco Bay and beyond. Add a sun-filled day, a resonant cause, and a healthy dose of joy, spice generously with stellar music, and you have a recipe for a magical mountain brew.

Produced as an annual celebration of and fundraiser for Mount Tamalpais State Park by Roots & Branches Conservancy, Sound Summit has raised nearly $200,000 for Mount Tam in its first three years alone. And just as rewarding, we’ve been able to do so fueled by the likes of Wilco, Bob Weir & Phil Lesh, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jim James, Los Lobos, Dr. John & The Night Trippers, Bill Frisell, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Vetiver, The Mother Hips, The Stone Foxes, and many more, providing an incredible soundtrack to a stirring backdrop.

Nike Unveils New Colin Kaepernick Ad

Nike Unveils New Colin Kaepernick Ad, Scheduled to Air During NFL Season Opener

NFL quarterback turned activist voices the two-minute spot, urging viewers, “Don’t ask if your dreams are crazy, ask if they’re crazy enough”

Just two days after Nike revealed that Colin Kaepernick is part of the company’s 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign, the full commercial starring the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has been released.

In the clip — shared by both the sportswear company and Kaepernick, 30, on Twitter — the athlete narrates as clips of both amateur and professional athletes plays.

In the initial ad for Nike, Kaepernick — who has been a Nike athlete since 2011 — appears in a black and white image. The text of the ad reads, “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.”

The ad marked Kaepernick’s first spokesperson gig for the company in over two years and comes despite Nike being the NFL’s official uniform sponsor.

The Four Freedoms: oil paintings by artist Norman Rockwell.

The Four Freedoms is a series of four 1943 oil paintings by the American artist Norman Rockwell. The paintings—Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear—are each approximately 45.75 inches (116.2 cm) × 35.5 inches (90 cm),[1] and are now in the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The four freedoms refer to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's January 1941 Four Freedoms State of the Union address in which he identified essential human rights that should be universally protected. The theme was incorporated into the Atlantic Charter, and became part of the charter of the United Nations. The paintings were reproduced in The Saturday Evening Post over four consecutive weeks in 1943, alongside essays by prominent thinkers of the day. They became the highlight of a touring exhibition sponsored by The Post and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The exhibition and accompanying sales drives of war bonds raised over $132 million.
