Hawaii – Haiku Stairs, also known as the ‘stairway to heaven’ – It is a steep hiking trail on the island of Oahu. The trail starts as a wooden staircase leading to the cliff on the south side of the Valley of Haiku. The staircase was installed in 1942 to stretch a cable from one side of the hill to the other side. This was necessary in order to provide a continuous link to the naval station during the war. In 2003, the staircase was restored at a cost of $875,000. Due to current legal issues of land use, the city and county of Honolulu said there is no current plan to open the stairs for public use.
The Boeing 747 is 52 Years Old, still Working Hard, carried 4-Billion Passengers and several Space Shuttles.
Fifty-two years ago today, on Feb. 9, 1969, the first Boeing 747 ever built completed its first flight. Called the City of Everett, it took off from a brand-new runway at Boeing’s specially built 747 factory in Everett, Washington. A new era in commercial aviation was born and the original jumbo jet started making history immediately.
The 747 is one of the greatest airplanes in aviation history. You will marvel at the amazing Boeing 747 and its five decades of extraordinary service.
Come and celebrate the 52th anniversary of this pedigree airplane.
Rarely do the commercial aviation and spirituality share the same conversation — unless it’s the 747 we’re talking about.
It’s hard to look at a 747 without focusing on its most distinctive feature — its upper deck. The position of this second-story annex. The upper-deck’s design is smoothly integral to the rest of fuselage.
The 747 design is a demonstration of the elegant, almost organic flow of the jet’s profile.
In the 1990s, Boeing ran a magazine promotion for the 747. It was a two-page, three-panel ad, with a nose-on silhouette of the plane against a dusky sunset.
“Where/does this/take you?” asked Boeing across the centerfold. Below this dreamy triptych, the text went on:
“A stone monastery in the shadow of a Himalayan peak. A cluster of tents on the sweep of the Serengeti plains. The Boeing 747 was made for places like these. Distant places filled with adventure, romance, and discovery. The 747 is the symbol for air travelers in the hearts and minds of travelers. It is the airplane of far-off countries and cultures. Where will it take you?”
Nothing nailed the plane’s mystique more than that ad.
The plane’s replacement is Boeing’s own 777-300, which can carry almost as may people as a 747, at around two-thirds of the operating costs, that has rendered the four-engine model otherwise obsolete. Pretty much every 777-300 that you see out there — and there are hundreds of them — would have been a 747 in decades past. The -300 has quietly become the premier jumbo jet of the 21st century.
Here are the 27 original customers.

Japan Airlines (JAL)
Twenty-seven carriers got things rolling, though many more would follow.
KLM (The Netherlands) is the world’s oldest airline, and this logo, a masterpiece of simplicity, is still in use today, only barely altered. There are 17 747s in the KLM fleet. With United out of the picture, KLM joins Lufthansa, Qantas, El Al and BOAC/British Airways as the only members of the original 27 to have operated the jet continuously since 1970.
Ukraine – Potemkin Stairs in Odessa – It is the formal entrance into the city from the sea and the most famous symbol of Odessa. It was originally known as the ladder Richelieu. The top step is 12.5 meters wide, and the lowest step widens to 21.7 meters. Because of the different widths above and below, the stairs create the illusion of greater length. The beautiful landscaping along the sides provides a little shade for the challenging climb.

Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” Album Review.
Listened/watched Taylor Swift’s perform “Folklore” on Disney Prime. This is a radical change of musical and lyrical style. Her earlier seven albums were biographical, “Folklore” is a departure.
When Taylor was a very young teenager her family relocated to Nashville to help her musical career. For a few years she was a professional song writer, writing songs everyday for other artists. Taylor Swift has mastered her craft.
The “Folklore” album is mostly a guitar, piano and her lovely voice and lyrics. Due to the Pandemic all of the recording studios were closed so she recorded the album in her house, Long Pond Studios and another smaller studio up the road. Taylor Swift had a choice to wait out the Pandemic or accomplish something. She delivered.
I was surprise at Long Pond Studios how much very old musical instruments (Kay guitar, Fender amp and an ancient Vox bass, etc.) we’re laying all over the studio and metal stands. In 1981 I was in Ronnie’s studio in Nashville, Tenn. I asked why were all of the music stands, chairs everything in the studio made of wood? They were surprised I noticed. The studio manager reply, “Ronnie Milsap can “hear the metal” resonant and demanded everything to be switched over to wood.” Now that’s a set of ears.
The “Folklore” album was just recently released and became the first million-selling album of 2020 in U.S. If you need to chill this is the album for you.

100 years ago, the first commercial radio broadcast announced the results of the 1920 election – politics would never be the same.
Only 100 people were listening, but the first broadcast from a licensed radio station occurred at 8 p.m. on Nov. 2, 1920. It was Pittsburgh’s KDKA, and the station was broadcasting the results of that year’s presidential election.
On November 2, 1920, station KDKA made the nation’s first commercial broadcast (a term coined by Conrad himself). They chose that date because it was election day, and the power of radio was proven when people could hear the results of the Harding-Cox presidential race before they read about it in the newspaper.
For centuries, the principal medium for mass political news was the printed word. When Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas participated in a series of nine debates for a U.S. Senate in Illinois in 1858, in-person attendees numbered in the thousands, but millions followed the debates through extensive newspaper accounts nationwide. The candidates were expected to make arguments, and each of the debates lasted three hours.
Totalitarians such as Mussolini and Hitler would broadcast speeches to incite passions in a way that also made possible for them to rise to power.

Tonight I throughly enjoyed watching/listening to Billie Eilish singing “Bad Guy” (Live From Saturday Night Live) on a rotating stage. Wow what a phenomenal effect. Click here to view the video, you will love it!
First to dance on a rotating stage was Fred Astaire. It’s no great secret how Fred Astaire was able to literally “dance around the room” in Stanley Donen’s 1951 movie Royal Wedding. The hotel room set was constructed inside a huge rotating steel cage, all the furniture was bolted down, and the camera and cameraman were strapped down and traveled around 360 degrees while Astaire danced away, always remaining upright as the room rotated around him.
Second to dance on a rotating stage was Michael Jackson.
Billie Eilish did a phenomenal job singing and dancing on her rotating stage on Live From Saturday Night Live singing “Bad Guy” Watch the attached video.
“Flying-V” Dutch developed futuristic aircraft makes successful maiden flight
Dutch Researchers ‘“Flying-V” has completed a successful maiden flight of the futuristic and fuel efficient aircraft that could one day carry passengers in its wings.
The unique design of the Flying-V places the passenger cabin, the cargo hold and the fuel tanks in the wings, and experts hope that the plane’s aerodynamic shape will cut fuel consumption by 20% compared to today’s aircrafts.
The Flying-V is developed by researchers at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and partner Dutch airline KLM, to take the highly anticipated aircraft along its next developmental steps.
Experts worked hard to optimize the plane: in order to improve telemetry, the team was forced to change the aircraft’s center of gravity and adjust its antenna.
A team of researchers and engineers tested the aircraft at a guarded airbase in Germany, where they worked with an Airbus team to test takeoffs, maneuvers and approaches, and landing.
National Dog Day – August 26th
Over 15,000 years ago, a lone hunter came across an injured wolf and aided the animal by nursing him back to health.
Or so the theory goes. One thing is for sure, that when early humans domesticated wolves they formed a friendship that has endured the test of time.
National Dog Day is celebrated August 26th annually and was founded in 2004 to bring attention to the plight of animals around the globe and encourage adoption.
National Dog Day celebrates all dogs, mixed breed and pure. Our mission is to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day…for personal protection, for law enforcement, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and pulling victims of tragedy from wreckage, now they’re detecting cancer and seizures…things even humans cannot do.
Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, Fifty-one years ago, on Aug. 18, 1969
Conservatives cringed @ his rendition of Star Spangled Banner @ the time, but now it is iconic piece of American music. RIP Jimi.
WORCESTER, Mass. – Fifty-one years ago, on Aug. 18, 1969, legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix stepped onto the stage at the Woodstock, N.Y., Music Festival and started upon an uninterrupted set lasting nearly two hours — one of the longest performances of his career. It concluded with a long medley that included the solo performance of the Star Spangled Banner that would become emblematic not only of Woodstock, but of the 1960’s.
The historic Woodstock Music & Arts Festival began on this date in 1969. Held on August 15 – 17, 1969, the landmark event for the era’s counterculture drew hundreds of thousands of people to Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York for a rain-drenched, muddy, three days of peace, love and most of all, music.
As we mark Woodstock’s 51st birthday, we celebrate not only our history, but look squarely at our present and the better future we all aspire to create.
Richie Havens’ festival-opening performance. Havens took the stage first because Sweetwater, the intended openers, were stuck in traffic and ended up needing a police escort to get on site. The rest of the playlist follows chronologically through the weekend, ending with Jimi Hendrix’s legendary sunrise performance the morning of Monday, August 18, 1969.
Included are partial or complete sets performed by Tim Hardin, Melanie, Joan Baez, Santana, Mountain, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Sly & The Family Stone, The Who, Jefferson Airplane (with Nicky Hopkins), Joe Cocker, Country Joe & The Fish, Ten Years After, The Band, Johnny Winter, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Sha Na Na.
With today’s Political climate may I suggest the following six comedians who are the best (In my humble opinion) comedians on Netflix. For the most part fairly low potty mouth. If a comedian or writter has to hide behind profanity to be funny then they aren’t that funny. These six comedians are the Super Bowl of Funny. I hope you like them.
1.) Jim Gaffigan – Grammy-nominated
2.) John Mulaney – Intellectually he is at the very top. Both of his parents were Attorneies. Very classy guy, former writter for SNL.
3.) Jerry Seinfeld – “23 Hours” routine.
4.) Sebastian Maniscalco
5.) Dana Carvey – Surprisingly funny
6.) Kathleen Madigan
* I do not recommend Ali Wong, what a Potty (Filthy) mouth!
